I always enjoy ministering in song and yesterday was no exception. At New Covenant to which Im no stranger, I was walking down the hall to the green room where they had the guest artist waiting to enter the sanctuary. I saw this kid Walking towards me then he started running. Now yall know me I was ready to snap and say stop all that running in here when he ran up to me and just body slammed hugged me! Caught me totally off guard! I looked at him and he said wassup? Then I realized it was my Lil home TJ son of Tre and Carnita and grandson to Aunt Mary Davis! Its been at least 7/8 years or more since I was on staff at New Covenant and to think that this guy now 11 years old remembered his UncleRon II floored me! We talked and I told him for his 12th birthday I was coming to get him and were gonna eat and shop all day. I cant tell you how good it made me feel that after all this time, the candy, cookies, and fun I shared with this little guy was not forgotten. Black men take time out and mentor and encourage the younger species. TJ has a great Dad and circle of family and friends and could have easily erased me from his memory but didnt. Im grateful. Thanks to his parents and grandparents for letting me love him!
