I always liked Tim Russert, a news reporter, who died suddenly a few years back. One of his most endearing qualities seen in public, was his complete adoration for his father, who was a garbage man. I remember Tim telling how his father would teach his children to take care how they packed the garbage so the guys dont get hurt. Like wrapping broken glass to make it safe and cleaning out the ickiness so its not so disgusting. In this weather, and again in the high heat of summer, I think giving the guys a break is the right thing to do. Its a tough job. It doesnt pay much. Yet, every week we put out the trash of our lives, and magically, its gone. Give the guys a break. Think how youd want to be treated. Make their job no more difficult.
