I am a Best Buy customer so I sent them this question: I have learned that most electronic products use materials and/or components manufactured by slave labor. Slavery is an abhorrent practice that currently subjects over 26 million people around the world to horrendous living conditions. The majority of them are in South East Asia. I have noticed that most of your products are manufactured in China where there is state sponsored slavery. As a customer, I feel it is part of my responsibility to ensure that nothing I purchase exploits slave labor. So, I would like to know if you actively work against slavery by ensuring your products are manufactured slave free? Thank you very much for your diligence in this matter. Sincerely, I received this in response: Thank you for contacting Best Buy. We appreciate all comments from our customers because it helps us find areas for improvement. When a customer gives us feedback of any kind, we enter it into a database with other customer comments. With regard to your feedback, we greatly appreciate it. We assure you that Best Buy operates a business that is in accordance to legal mandates as in adherence to human protection laws in terms of employment and manufacturing our products. We highly discourage all forms of slave labor in manufacturing our electronic products despite some of our merchandise have been based in China, but we ensure that this condition has been scrutinized by the international labor policies. If you may have other questions or concerns, please contact us at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289). Thank you for your time and patience. We appreciate your feedback. Sincerely, Sharen Best Buy Customer Care Team Thank you Best Buy!
