I am a day late on this, but yesterday was World AIDS day. I - TopicsExpress

I am a day late on this, but yesterday was World AIDS day. I didnt know many in Macon who was HIV+. I mean there were acquaintances who were, but that it. I moved to Atlanta, and met some people who were. It hit home for me when my goofy, accident-prone, lovable roommate Jay Rogers was diagnosed. I was scared for him, and read as much as I could about HIV. Since then, I have had two other people come into my life with HIV. One was diagnosed before I met him, and the other found out several years ago. When he called me and told me he had just left the doctor, I told him to come over, and that we would eat, talk, and if needed to break down for a minute, that was fine. Im happy to say that all three of these extraordinary men are doing well. They have also taught me a lot about courage and bravery and I am lucky that they have come into my life. My point is that even though I am negative, HIV can impact your life in way you cant imagine. It isnt the death sentence it once was. So, to these three amazing guys, all I can say is you I humbled to be your friend, and am thankful that you all have come into my life, and how much you have contributed to the person I am today.
