I am a lover of The Wobble: that hip-hop-rap combo that is a hit - TopicsExpress

I am a lover of The Wobble: that hip-hop-rap combo that is a hit at every school dance. Nothing makes me happier than getting out on the dance floor and owning all those catchy moves. Heck, I even do the booty-drop version, and being 6’7”, let me tell you: it is a long way down! Even if my thighs burn for days after doing the drops in the song, I will continue to love this song because of what it did for me: it changed my outlook on life. Growing up, I was that awkward shy guy who got scared at even the tiniest of small talk: I was simply uncomfortable being around people. My life was always like that awkward moment of confusion between a fist-bump and a handshake. Then, at one high school dance, The Wobble started playing. My friend dragged me out on the floor, and for the first time, I danced like I wanted to be there. I faced my fears and let go of that uptight control freak that hated fun. That night I learned a lot. But most importantly, I realized that most of us live in a “wobbly” world. There are ups and downs, but it is what you make of the present moments that defines who you are. On the dance floor, it is always easy to spot the 6’7” guy who has no idea what he is doing. Yet, the moment I started to let go of that controlling self, I smiled. I was truly enjoying life and I think those around me could tell. Now, while this may be a ridiculously long Facebook status, I told this story because dancing really changed my outlook on life and on February 6th, I will be able to say that dancing again has made another significant impact on my journey. I will be participating in the Buckeyethon Dance Marathon: a large-scale fundraising effort to support the children treated at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. With thousands of Ohio State students getting out on that dance floor for a 24-hour dance marathon, I cannot imagine the impact that is about to be made. It is the perfect way to show support for the children who need it most. I am in the process of fundraising for this opportunity and would really appreciate your contributions. If you are able to assist me financially, you can do so at helpmakemiracles.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=302693. If you are unable to, I totally understand, but would like to request that you take a moment out of your day to pray for these children and their families. I am forever grateful for this amazing community that surrounds me. Thanks for reading and thank you for your continued support. Together, we can make a difference.
