I am a professional journalist. I am committed to my profession. I lived respectfully and will live so in future. GNLA is a outlawed terrorist organisation. As a journalist, I have access to all sources of news and in accessing these sources, including GNLA, never I violated my professional ethics. As a journalist, I have gained access to GNLA, like I did with ANVC in its hey days, and as a professional journalist, I have reported the news given by GNLA from time to time. Never I supported their ideology, nor judged them as that is not the duty of a professional journalist. I have reported the news items received from GNLA like any other news paper. If telling the truth demands getting maligned and death threats, I am willing to speak truth and publish truth. I have moved by the barbaric crime committed by GNLA in chokpot by brutally killing Smt Josbina M Sangma, mother of four children. My sources in Chokpot who witnessed this barbaric crime by GnLa cadre, I have reported the incident as it happened. If I am the adviser to GNLA, as claimed by them now, why should I share with my media friends about this barbaric crime? Why should I send this news item at all to press friends if I am GNLA adviser as claimed by them? In journalism, I remained principled and committed to my profession. Never I supported violence by any militant group. Never I advocated terrorism as a means to achieve goals. I am indebted to my parents for their brought up. Till yestrday I was a journalist whom they threated to kill and now d adviser? What next? Tomorrow? It is my unwritten commitment to the rule of law and never misused my profession personal gain. GNLA has now claimed me as their adviser. If I have to become an adviser to an outlawed group, certainly I will be one to advice them to desist from the path of violence and join the main stream. I am an adviser to truth and truth alone. I will report truth and truth alone. Come what may! in doing so, I am to face death, I am willing to die for truth. I am committed to my profession as a journalist and did the same by reporting the barbaric crime committed by GNLA on Smt Josbina M Sangma. I report any such crimes in future.
