I am a southern girl raised with a strong sense of family, faith, hope & determination. I have worked hard for as long as I can remember. We grew up farming, canning, being positive and kind. We were not allowed to criticize, judge anyone, be unkind or to ever give up on anything. We were encouraged to follow our dreams and put in the work, take chances and ANYTHING you want to do or be you can. I am saddened for, but will not apologize to those that dont believe the same. You can own a small business and be friends with your team members. My Granny went to Cosmetology school when she was in her mid 40s. More than 40 years later I sat next to the person who wept the most at her funeral. I lost my best friend she told me. I consider this person family and this person owned the small business where my Granny provided hair services. Where I come from you love & support each other. Your share your trade secrets and support and consider your community family and friends. Dont worry that someone will become better or more recognized than you, I believe there is plenty of best for us all to succeed. I also believe I can choose to spend my days with my friends & family that are clients & team members. I wont allow others thoughts, beliefs or intentions discourage this quality in myself. I cant control how others were brought up, I would if I could. That being said, I was also raised with a fierce responsibility to protect my family, work tribe and community. I will not allow harm or tolerate behavior that is disrespectful. Its a simple concept. Do Unto Others. We can be successful AND kind. We can do random acts of kindness. We can live in harmony. Give Love : even if you dont like someone or some situation. We need more love and less war.
