I am an American living and working in Saudi Arabia. I love it here in spite of some of the backward ways of the natives, mainly because I am only 45 mins to and hour away from Makkah. I finish work by 2:00pm. I have time to go to Makkah everyday after work if I choose to and to Madinah on the weekends. In addition my company sponsors free weekly trips to Makkah, and bi-monthly trips to Madinah whereas we only pay for our rooms which are reasonable. I do not have to pay rent or utilities. I only have to buy food. All medical expenses and medications are paid for by my company. I am able to save nearly all of my salary (around $2,500/3,000 monthly). I have easy access to other Middle Eastern countries (Jordan, Oman, Dubai and Kuwait) and Europe. No more hustle and bustle of life in busy NYC. Most importantly, I love my students. They are not perfect but they do not have the behavior issues I dealt with working in the inner cities boroughs of NY. They are TWEENS and I love working with them. For me, life in KSA is GREAT!!!
