I am considering doing a major FB Account Overhaul & Dump. Before I started using FB for marketing purposes, I had roughly 400-500 quality people and friendships that were engaging on a daily basis. After joining the marketing profession, one of the things I was told was to max out your friends list. So, not knowing any better that is what I was doing. -- Now, with 3100 Friends there is hardly any engagement with the original REAL friends I had and I have ZERO communication with about 95% of my friends list. This is where the DUMP comes into play. If we havent talked or commented on each others pages in the last 60 days, Im sorry but I think it may time we part ways. We are not serving each other for any purpose that I can see. Also before using FB for marketing, I shared my interests with severe weather, I use to share funny and crazy pics/status updates and I actually had interaction on my wall. ~ Now, I can sit here for hours and there will be NO, NONE, NADA, interaction whatsoever. I can post a comment and wait hours, again, no interaction. I didnt know that by adding thousands of marketing friends would kill my page and the interaction. Apprently, I learned a lesson the hard way here. I cannot keep going on using FB like this. It has killed many friendships and that really bothers me. And for those that suggest using a FAN PAGE for business, unless you use tools and pay for engaement, FB pages go stale quicker than an open box of crackers. Its almost pointless. So, with all of that said ... I think its time to DUMP about 90% of my friends list and keep the ones that add value and I have something in common with.
