I am constrained to post this because of the brouhaha trailing Sanusi Lamido Sanusis emirship (permit my choice here please). What is this noise all about, please? Can we call ourselves to order on this, and wait some months to see how he will perform? Now that Sanusi has been successfully crowned the Emir of Kano, how does this make Nigeria a better place, free of the usual ethno-religious divide? It is alleged that Sanusi literally supervised the beheading of one Gideon Akaluka -way back in Kano in the 1990s- following an allegation that his wife used a page from the Holy Koran in the toilet... We also understand there are allegations that SLS is connected to Boko Haram and excessive religious activities... Recall that he used his office -a national office- to donate preferentially to some bomb blast victims who were Muslims... Despite all the claims/allegations, I remember very well that a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) once gave SLS an award of Excellence while he was still serving as CBN boss. I dont know what concerns the church with such award. Focus-less people. Ehn ehn, back to my view joor. Also recall that SLS as CBN Governor donated to some bomb blast victims who were Christians, albeit smaller compared to what he donated to the Muslims... Lets leave his religious affiliations for now and check his political affiliation. By my assessment, SLS is unattached. He just wants to be himself and wants his voice to be heard. I think this is good in some way. He will soon fight APC. Just watch. Now to the most important question. Will Sanusis emirship take the average almajiri boy off the streets of Kano? I leave you all to judge based on his records towards educating the poor people in Kano. Please table your views with data on his contributions to education sector as CBN governor. Please dont mention his donation to universities because university system does not lay the foundation for education, primary school does! Kano in my view doesnt need a leader who will establish more schools of Koranic or Arabic studies. The state needs a leader who will ensure the people reason beyond religion. Lets hear your view, please. Returning to my one-week leave joor. Thank you!
