I am convinced that Guyanese suffer from collective self-hatred. Whether it pertains to our national cricket team, our international pageant representatives or even Lisa Punch, we are going to go all crabs-in-a-barrel, once its homegrown. I guess that explains why not a freaking day goes by when I dont hear someone bellyaching over the University of Guyanas lack of accreditation and international acceptance - even as legions of its graduates have gone on to pursue graduate studies at top flight universities globally; even as its law students top regional law schools year-on-year; even as 90 PERCENT of its graduates take their UG diplomas and find work abroad. All this even with the leaky roofs, starving lecturers and roly poly guards. Increased tuition fees do not equate to flushing money down the toilet. Its an investment in an institution that has been punching above its weight for half a century and counting. #schoolpride #comeatme
