I am currently skewered on the horns of a dilemma. The book-length manuscripts on my hard drive that are gradually coming to completion number three or four. One of these is under contract with Mohr Siebeck. That is splendid. I have been invited to submit manuscripts to three other publishers. Well and good. But what if I overcame the fear of rejection, took the initiative, and approached a publisher myself? I take the image back. This is not about blood and gore. Its about falling in love. Thanks to my friends Daniele Pevarello and Jim James Aitken, I fell in love with Cambridge University on my trip to Europe this summer. They showed me quite the time. The question is: would it amount to a betrayal of love to submit a manuscript to the publisher of the other place? If you dont know what the phrase the other place refers to, this is probably not a question for you to answer.
