I am excited to announce that this year marks special anniversaries for three Big 8 Champion Union City Charger football teams. I plan to organize a reunion to celebrate their role in our program’s tradition of excellence. We have won the most conference championships of any team in the Big 8 and that should be celebrated. We will be paying tribute to each of the teams celebrating anniversaries during halftime of our 2014 home opener. The event information is as follows: What: Union City Charger Football Big 8 Championship Reunion Who: Members of the 1984, 1994, and 2004 Big 8 Championship Teams When: Friday, September 12th vs. Athens (Kickoff 7 P.M.) To have three teams celebrating 30, 20, and 10 year anniversaries on the same night is a truly unique situation. An event like this has not been done before at Union City. But I believe planning this event is absolutely important because I respect our program’s past and am optimistic about our future. I believe it’s critical to bridge the gap between past and present especially regarding the championship level these teams were fortunate to achieve and that we are constantly striving to reach. We are asking that members of these teams join us for this special night of recognition.
