I am extremely honored to share this status before you on this special occasion of 15 August which is the 67th Anniversary of our independent country. This day is to remember our great leaders for their endless support against the British powers to give us the freedom that we enjoy today. The great dream of our freedom fighters, nationalists, and revolutionaries was realized on 15th Aug. 1947, when India became free and independent. It was an epoch-making event of great significance, which ushered in an era of liberty, self-rule and prosperity for our nation. Since then 15th Aug., has been celebrated all over India as our Independence Day. It is a national festival-a day to remember our bygone patriots who laid down their lives for the freedom of our motherland We should be really proud to be born in India as it is a nation which gave birth to charismatic leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, B R Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose. It’s our duty to pay homage & tribute to all those who have laid down their lives to provide freedom from foreign dominance. The chief Independence Day celebrations are held in New Delhi, the capital of India. The celebrations start with the address of the President to the nation on the eve of the Independence Day. The official Independence Day ceremony begins early morning the next day, with the President, Vice- President and the Prime Minister all stay together for flag hoisting event. Flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes take place in governmental and non-governmental institutions throughout the country. Schools and colleges conduct flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural events. Major government buildings are often adorned with strings of lights. In Delhi and some other cities, kite flying adds to the occasion. National flags of different sizes are used abundantly to symbolise allegiance to the country. Citizens adorn their clothing, wristbands, cars, household accessories with replicas of the tri-colour. Over a period of time, the celebration has changed emphasis from nationalism to a broader celebration of all things India. Overall we proud of our country and I am feeling proud to myself as I am the part of it. In last I would like to conclude my view with a short remembrance of Bharat Mata and their loving fighters. “Jai Hind Jai Bharat”. ****Happy Independence Day 2013****
