I am feeling more and more confident about Martys returning home with me. Her speech is becoming stronger and what she says is becoming more coherent. She had a substitute speech therapist today and totally excelled in everything the therapist threw at her. Physical therapy had her on a walker again, working on turns as she had to weave back and forth to go around a series of 8 high plastic cones. With the exercise finished, the therapist mentioned something about picking up the cones. Marty thought she was supposed to pick them up and promptly bent over and picked up the first one. The astonished therapist then allowed her to go to and pick up each of the remaining cones. Then, wanting to see how low Marty could go, she dropped a pencil in front of her. Marty bent way over and retrieved the pencil from the floor. The therapist watched in disbelief (and held onto Martys gait belt). I guess she passed that session! Marty laid down for about an hour until dinner and two aides came in to get her ready to go to the dinning room. One of them asked me if she could walk to the bathroom if one of them were on each side. I said Id been wondering the same thing and off they went! There were no issues, to each of our delight! Another milestone achieved! It is easy for me to have a smile on my face when I am married to Marty and can see the results of Gods springtime miracle!
