I am feeling reflective, and in the lead up to New Years I thought - TopicsExpress

I am feeling reflective, and in the lead up to New Years I thought I would write a quick reflection on the last 12 months as manager of the band Andy Phillips & The Cadillac Walk (which I fell into quite by accident really as Andy is also my long-term partner) This New Years Eve marks Cadillacs 150th gig since the band formed mid 2013. As many of you already know, they are a hard-working band, and all three members are full time musos now. Now where do I begin... ok, well what I have found to be most impressive about the trio, is their ability to put on an amazing show, even when they do back to back gigs in one day, the last song of the last show has as much energy as the earlier show that day. Their hard work and constant gigging is paying off, they really are a super gig-fit & tight operation! Andy absolutely sizzles on the guitar, his tone, tasteful phrasing & musicianship really makes that instrument sing - his playing now reaching even greater heights with seemingly no ceiling, that has had punters gobsmacked that havent seen the band in a while. And to those of you that have enjoyed watching Cadillac Walk grow from its beginning/inception last year are commenting now on how much Andy has grown in confidence onstage and how much stronger and richer his vocals have become, and how proud you are all of him. This means so much to him and us as a band, and so many of you out there have been a great support for his growth this last year from musically doing absolutely nothing with his talents to now working as a musician within a short period of time (those of you that knew Andy in the past know how very shy, a huge take-a-back-seat kinda guy, quiet in the shadows of others, never dreaming he could do what he does now one day, never ever hoping it could be possible to play for a living, and definitely he NEVER saw himself fronting a band, he says to me all the time, its like a dream come true for him) I believed in him though, I knew he had an exceptional talent and I wanted people to hear him, and I saw that he had it in him, and I know many of you out there agree at how bloody good he is at it. I think now he might be quite unstoppable - in a good way Chris Mann on drums in all seriousness, is a freak of nature - with people constantly telling me he is the best drummer they have ever seen. His addition to the band has been smooth and amazing, a true pro, Chris plays every show like its his last (which I think he actually believes some days! ) but in all honesty a much loved addition to the Cadillac family. And Glenn Sharp on Bass has to be heard to be believed, a long time friend of Andys and one of the kindest people you will ever meet, he is an exceptional musician, creative, quirky, groovy player that has brought a magic to the band & gels perfectly with Chris. Together they make up the talented powerhouse that is Cadillac Walk! Feedback has been unbelievably fantastic, with a marked increase in supporters of late and those wanting to film/meet/see/talk/touch the band! - so get to a gig and see for yourself and see whats going on, dont take my word for it, these lads are the real deal and will have you entertained all night (or afternoon) long. Grab a friend and come along to a show. ALL shows are 100% FREE, and ALL shows are at great venues you will love! - Heidi LaFaerie xox
