I am filled with pride this afternoon. My oldest son, Tim, bravely took another step forward to manhood, celebrating the accomplishment of his high school graduation. High school was not easy for Tim. There were so many times he was tempted to quit and walk away from the commitment and the challenge that seemed so easy for so many of his peers. But his tenacity, hard work and willingness to hang on - - sometimes day by day or even hour by hour-- paid off. I am in tremendous debt to so many people who helped, coached and encouraged Tim along the way. I cannot mention all of you, but I want you to know that your effort, your love and your generosity paid off from Mrs. White, the second grade teacher who adored Tim and refused to let him slip away to Marc Bourassa, a middle school teacher who became a role model and inspiration. His aunts, Cathy Kidman and Ramona Morrissette, Kris Canning and his Uncle Kit Canning. To the people who hired Tim for odd jobs, including Parke Burmeister, Vassie Fowler, JoAnne Fisk and so many, many others: Your work, your love, your generosity paid off today as we celebrated a day that sometimes seemed impossible. I am so damn proud of you, Tim! There is a big world waiting for you; and it is yours to conquer! Congratulations!
