I am forced to share this piece of information as, It was quite surprising to note that lot of misleading or misinformation was floating in media about acid. Any science student of even 12th, knows that only sulfuric(H2SO4) and Nitrite acid(HNO3) r most deadly acids and r heavily corrosive for living tissue which needs very strict regulation. These 2 acids r hygroscopic in nature because of the unstable hydrogen atom it contains and this immediate absorb the water contain in the tissue and tissue collapse immediately. Both these acids have no use in day to day life of any consumer so no consumer needs to buy them. H2SO4 is electrolytic medium and most importantly used in Battery and electroplating (powder coating) industry, as here it is used as a medium to transfer electroplating material on component which needs to be coated on particular metal. Both these industries r in unorganized sector working in local Galas and all govt. needs is to monitor and control over these to important sector. Third local user of these to acid is Goldsmiths. A combination of H2SO4 and HNO3 in the ratio of 1 is to 3 forms a acid call Aquiriga, which is used by Goldsmiths as this is the only acid that can dissolve the toughest metal present in nature and that is gold. 3rd Acid is Hydrocloric (HCl) which may cause only slight irritation on living tissue on first expose but is not very corrosive. One can easily dip one finger in it and remove, only slight sensation would be felt but even this acid could cause great harm if it enters eyes and other internal organs. This acid is most commonly used by consumers as toilet cleaner or even in soldering industry like soldering of stove burner or soldering other metal parts. Basically this acids is used as cleaners for removing oils and oxides from metal. Basically all acids attack metals and dissolve them into it to form respective suphides, nitrites or chlorides. They dissolve metal oxides that r formed on on every metals that is exposed to atmosphere. so before doing any job, this cleaning of oxides r required, but this could be very done by HCL which is least corrosive. So the govt. total concentration needs to be on control of sale of H2SO4 and HNO3. There r many other toilet cleaners available in market which could be used instead of HCL as toilet cleaners such as Hyrpic which is also acid based and effective or other less expensive materials such as bleaching power, Caustic Soda (NaHO3) which r equally effective and clear substitute. Other big user of all above 3 acids r collage laboratories. Since it is very well known who r the actual users of these deadly acids, it should not be difficult to keep a control on these limited sectors in any city or town. The word acid is in fact misnomer. Even Citric acid (Lemon juice) or Acidic acid commonly used in every hotel Salad r also acids but these r the mildest of all and r edible but could cause irritation in eye.
