I am going to ask our elected government for a few things, in no particular order. 1) speed limit signs with both km and mph. Reasoning, some people drive cars that only have kilometers per hour but the speed limits are posted in miles per hour. The little stickers that convert it require your eyes to be off the road for far to long. 2) require a special license to breed animals. Reasoning, the breeding of dogs has become big business, the animals are being breed and sold in inappropriate facilities and locations. Inbreeding is showing its ugly head. The shelters are full of animal that need homes. 3) implement a program that employs only Caymanians to install a continuous sidewalk from Bodden Town to Westbay. Reasoning, Put every abled and willing Caymanian who is unemployed to work in an effort to bring the function and aesthetic of our main arteries up to par. Bring those same arteries in line with ADA standards. Allow our tourists and residents to walk safely along the road. Designate specific bus pickup and drop off points that are the only place to embark and disembark. The initial cost is bore by the government, but is recovered at the time of development through the permitting process. 4) Require all businesses to be ADA complient and remain so, attach the business license to the passing grade of the life safety inspections. Reasoning, upon getting their certificate of occupancy the vast majority of businesses do not continue to maintain the handicap access requirements. 5) Make the expiration date of guest worker drivers licenses equal to the last day of their work permit plus 30 days. Include the status of the individual on the drivers license. If they are a guest worker, the expiration date of their permit, the permit number and what job code. Add a QR code to verify further details. Reasoning, This would allow anyone thinking of doing business with another person to verify if they are legal to be doing what they are attempting to do. It would also deter stay overs as their ability to move would be limited by not having the right to drive.
