I am going to send this out to the D2 newsletter list also... There may be a little confusion about what the City Council is going to do today regarding the minimum wage initiative that has gotten the required number of signatures to go before the Council. Todays vote is simply to accept the City Clerks certification that the required number of signatures was reached. It is basically a formality. People are always welcome to come to our meetings, but anyone coming today expecting a vote on the initiative itself will be disappointed. The first reading will be at the August 18 meeting (two weeks from now), and the actual vote will probably occur on September 8. The 8th would normally be a work session, but given the amount of interest in this particular topic, it will probably be the only agenda item for a special meeting.
