I am honored to have the support of Former Examiner Group - Bellaire, River Oaks and West University Editor Charlotte Aguilar I dont often make recommendations so publicly, but Im urging my fellow Bellaire residents to vote for Corbett Parker for mayor of Bellaire. Ive been very impressed with his term on City Council, particularly in his efforts at communication, using email blasts and social media -- as well as good old-fashioned accessibility -- to keep residents informed about issues at hand and to seek public input. When my granddaughters school faced an issue with the city recently and I contacted the mayor and councilmembers, he was the only one to respond personally, ask questions and to see for himself the schools side of the matter. Bellaire is too small a city for elected officials not to reach out in this way. His opponent is a good and honorable man whom Ive known for more than 20 years, but its time for more forward-thinking leadership that could bring about some of the growth in commercial-retail development that has been only a dream for decades.
