I am laying in bed listening to Lyla snore. Shes laying her head - TopicsExpress

I am laying in bed listening to Lyla snore. Shes laying her head on me and pressed really close to me, which I love. Im covered up in my fancy Ballard sheets and my ultra thick comforter that is luxurious and Im laying thinking about the homeless train kids out there. Flash is in a sleeping bag with Cornbread, the beautiful blue pit bull, and Nancy the shep mix puppy and his brindle female pit whose name I forgot. We helped him to carry all of his things, w his three dogs tied to his belt, across the street to a safe porch so he could camp out to sleep last night. When we got there we saw that there were others already bundled up , sleeping...in the cold , outside, on a porch, w a bright light over them, all night. I am thinking about the woman with four little girls, carting all of their belongings that they werent wearing, in a laundry cart. She was broken. She seemed like a zombie, but she wasnt high. Imagine being a woman out there, but now you have four little girls to look after, and to protect not only from the harsh elements, but from predators. She had her little girls on leashes tied to her waist also.....just like Flash and his dogs. When you are homeless and you are responsible for others, how else do you keep them w you close by and at all times? We loaded and filled up TEN VEHICLES full of food, snack bags, toiletries, clothing, socks, back packs, hats, scarves, coats, hoodies, shoes, comforters and quilts and it ran out in in ONE HOUR. We ran out. We effing ran out . I cried . We were packed to the rim and it wasnt enough. This is just one day a month and yet the lady w the little girls needs back packs for them so they can start to help to carry their own things. When they were walking away from us, I heard her scold one of the little girls and say, You always want to eat everything right away! I am hungry too! We have to wait! I cried thinking how a mother is homeless protecting her children and yet fighting w them for food , as well. Days like this always humble me and keep me thankful and honored to be around such loving, caring advocates that came out merely to serve. And it saddens me that its never enough.
