I am looking for a particular type of headstone that someone might have encountered in cemetery visits. My third great grandfather, Isaac Moore, was first found in Russell County in 1809, and next buying and selling land in Scott County in 1819. Since Scott was formed in 1814, he didnt likely move, so a cemetery on Sinking Creek, likely near Cowans Branch would be of greatest interest to me. The style of tombstone that interests me resembles a mans shoulders, with a rounded head sitting atop it. Ive found those in family cemeteries, and even found one carved with words around the outer edge of the circle, saying This is my crown. I have a MOORE brick wall in Scott County (or Russell County) and hope to someday find a tombstone like this in a Moor cemetery in southwest Virginia.
