I am looking for someone to provide personal care and/or respite - TopicsExpress

I am looking for someone to provide personal care and/or respite services for an 18 year old male with disabilities and other special needs in Paducah. Im looking to fill part time positions for day shift, evenings, and weekends. CNA and CPR certification is preferred. Please send me a private message for further details. I will be interviewing next week. My son, Jacob, suffers from cerebral palsy, he is autistic, and he has a history of epilepsy (although he hasn’t had a seizure in ten years) and MRSA ear infections. He cannot walk or talk and is completely dependent. He has a tendency to aspirate his food/drink/saliva often. He eats small soft or cut up meals, snacks, and takes drinks orally, but he is also fed via G-tube several times a day. He requires medication that can be given orally or crushed, nasal sprays, and G-tube cleaning/care daily. Antibiotic ear drops, Abreva, and other things such as Scalpicin or chapstick can be applied as symptoms present themselves for ear drainage, cold sores, chapped lips, itchy scalp, etc. He does require diaper changes throughout the day. Jacob cannot talk, but in time you will definitely learn to communicate with him. He is a young man that loves to be loved. He loves to get kisses on his forehead, to be read to, to be sung to, to be talked to, to have someone to watch his Barney movies with. And because he is autistic he is very repetitive, so he would want you to sing a song over and over again. He may want to read the same book or a specific page in the book over and over. He finds random things funny, and if you get very animated he will respond by getting very excited to the point that he will squeal and laugh and bounce around. He is so adorable. He sometimes likes to get down into the floor and crawl around and play. Currently, Jacob is being homeschooled until he graduates in May. Because he is no longer in school his interaction with other people has been limited, and he often gets bored. However, he also likes his own time where he can watch TV or take a nap. This is why I have chosen the shifts I have. This will allow him to develop a relationship with more than one person. Right now his interaction is limited to his brother (who is on the wrestling team and gone every weekend) and me for the most part. His caregiver is here a couple days a week (she is leaving), as well as his home school teacher that comes twice a week for an hour a day (that will stop in May). He loves me, but after a while he gets tired of seeing just my face Im sure! Personal Care pays $14.00 an hour. There are 25 hours total that I am looking to fill Monday-Sunday. Respite Care pays $10.00 an hour. There are 5 hours total that I am looking to fill on Saturdays. The respite care hours I am flexible on because those hours carry over so I don’t lose them if I don’t use them during that week. I am also flexible on Wednesday afternoon/evenings and Saturday morning and Sunday shift if the hours interfere in any way with church. I am prepared to hire 1-4 individuals if necessary, but I would be just fine with having fewer if they were flexible and could cover the hours that I need. The hours I need are as follows: MONDAY/TUESDAY/THURSDAY/FRIDAY (ALL PERSONAL CARE HOURS) 9am-11am and 3pm-5pm WEDNESDAY (ALL PERSONAL CARE HOURS) — 9am-11am and 3pm-5pm OR 2pm-4pm SATURDAY— PERSONAL CARE HOURS 7am-9am OR *8am-10am OR 9am-11am SATURDAY— RESPITE CARE HOURS *1pm-6pm OR 2pm-7pm SUNDAY— PERSONAL CARE HOURS 8am-11am OR 9am-12pm OR 10am-1pm OR 11am-2pm OR 12pm-3pm OR 1pm-4pprm *Preferred Hours I will be conducting interviews next week on the following days: TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND THURSDAY. Please give me a call to set up an appointment 270-562-1084. Be sure to have a list of three personal references, and be prepared to be here for up to an hour and a half. You will have the opportunity to meet Jacob while you are here, check out the environment, and ask any questions you may have.
