I am looking to either trade my daughter’s mare, “Only - TopicsExpress

I am looking to either trade my daughter’s mare, “Only Huggin”, a 2009 APHA/PtHA pointed mare for a yearling, or 2 year old or sell her, asking $3500. Any potential homes will be screened. She is a Bay Tobiano out of “By Appointment Only” (Bay Tobiano) and out of a Sorrel Overo mare (CC R Gran Loot, granddaughter of Gran Loot). She is broodmare sound only due to a probably partial DDFT tear to her right front foot. Since we board, we are not looking to get into the breeding business. She is currently on stall rest until the end of September at which time she will be re-evaluated by our veterinarian with the hopes of being able to start hand walking at that time. She was diagnosed back on July 4th, 2014. Only way to be 100% certain is to do a MRI which at $2000-3000 is financially impossible for me at this point in time. She was re-evaluated back on August 19th, 2014 and she is healing, slowly. She is currently sound at the walk. I am planning to get her 5 panel tested, as well as Agouti (bay), and OLWS tested and plan to send in the hair samples the beginning of next week. She is currently under lights. The diagnosis of the partial DDFT tear is from viewing x-rays and evaluating her symptoms at that time. It also appears that she has a navicular cyst, when looking closely at her x-rays. She has only had x-rays of the right front foot, as that was the one that blocked to be lame. I would be looking to trade for an APHA regular registry (or able to get regular registry papers) required or AQHA. Ideally we would be looking for a gelding/stallion (that would be gelded) for a replacement. Bred to do WP at the breed show level. My daughter has moved up to Amateur so any possibly trade would need to be able to have the bloodlines to be competitive at that level. We show at the Iowa Paint circuit shows as well as Color Breed Congress. I feel that we might be better off trading her for a young horse, than trying to sell her, at this point. We are located in Granger, Iowa and the horse is located just NW of Granger as well. Video links may be found in the comments of the photo album. Videos are from 2012. They can also be found on YouTube if you search for “Only Huggin”. She received 2 APHA ROMs in just one weekend of showing. She has 17 Novice Youth PtHA Points (English Pleasure, English Eq, WP) and 58 Youth PtHA Points (Halter, Tobiano Color, HUS, Ideal Pinto English, Bareback Western HMS, Ideal Pinto Western) just from showing at 2 Pinto shows, 2012 & 2013 Color Breed Congresses. Placing in the top 10 in Yth Tobiano Color (2013 Res CH), Yth Halter Mares, Nov Yth WP, Yth Bareback Hunt Seat Eq, Yth Ideal Pinto English, Nov Yth HUS, Nov Yth Hunt Seat Eq, Nov Yth WP, Yth WP (2013 4th NSBA), Yth Bareback Western HMS, Yth Ideal Pinto Western, and Yth Disc Rail Western. She was the high point FFA horse and Exhibitor at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. In 2011, she was the MPHA SSA Open Futurity Champion in 2 Year Old Western Pleasure and the WPHC SSA Reserve Champion in 2 Year Old Western Pleasure. It is IMPORTANT to note that all of the points received on Only Huggin were without any assistance from a trainer. She had 5 months of training before we got her, in 2012, and everything from that point on was without a trainer.
