I am lucky to interact everyday with people from diverse ethnic groups in Kenya, I listen to everyone’s view every day and since it’s normally hard for anyone to immediately place me, I get to blend in well without raising any suspicion. I have come to realize that there is a big battle for supremacy in the political arena especially between the third largest community and the largest community in population as per the last census. The largest community will always tend to identify a smaller community and weigh their benefit in the long run, but what the third largest community has failed to achieve is consolidate the other 39 communities which will always sway depending on their leadership and what they have been promised, hence the idea of “carrot and stick” approach tends to apply perfectly well. The pride exuded by the third largest community has always been their down fall since they cannot generally be trusted and therefore tend to be sidelined and left to fight the battle alone. I could have penned all my feelings and observations but this is just a small article that anyone can feel free to edit or add.
