I am more afraid of tribalism than i am of racism. Tribalism amongst Afrikans is worse than White racism. I can deal with being subjugated by White people, because they are beneficiaries of our oppression, and therefore they do not understand our struggles. But being oppressed by a fellow Afrikan, the same person were fighting the same struggles with, the one who is locked in the same nervous conditions as we are...that is painful beyond measure and it induces a state of paralysis and defeatism, for it says that well never be liberated, because to fight White racism, we must first have Afrikan unity. So if we cant have that unity, our chances of defeating White racism are non existent, and this means we are going to be in a perpetual state of oppression...I cannot live with the possibility that were going to be eternally oppressed. I want to believe that well liberate ourselves. I want to hold onto the belief that another Afrika is possible. If we let go of this belief, if we stop believing in the inevitability of the end to our oppression, then we have nothing to fight for, and therefore we might as well cease to engage in the struggle we are engaged in, of total freedom...
