I am not coping very well with what is happening. Let me see if I understand this all correctly: 1.The High Court has issued a stunning rebuke to the Abbott governments border protection policy, striking down its decision to refuse to give refugees who arrive by boat permanent protection visas. 2..Australia will send a military force to the United Arab Emirates to contribute to the US campaign of airstrikes (thus is endangering the lives of our young men and women in someone elses war) 3. Suddenly the the Australian Government has raised the National Terrorism Public Alert level from Medium to High 4. Then, in the same breath AFP and ASIO move on suspected terrorists because Tony Abbott says police raids follow threat of beheading. (In the meanwhile it has become clear that the suspect never mentioned beheadings) As a consequence of all this, a mosque has been vandalised, threatening letters have been received by Muslim community organisations and someone\s car was found vandalised with racist graffiti. Hidden in new anti-terrorism laws are wide powers governments want to silence dissent and quash protest. So, Tony Abbott, what is happening to our country? Good going Team Australia! SHAME!
