I am not looking to start a riot, but there are no facts in this post that we are actually failing students. I actually think we are doing quite the opposite. It is clearly a one-sided argument coming from teachers that are clearly unhappy. It all depends on the school, and even the area of Detroit. Mumford has different issues than Southeastern who has different issues than Denby....but my kids have grown over a grade level in math in the last 4 months, so I know we arent failing them entirely. Yes, we have some kinks to work out, some corrupt individuals to weed out, but if you are so unhappy in your situation, TRY TO CHANGE IT. Crying to some blogger about how you are failing your kids isnt going to change anything. It may actually make things worse. Oh, youre failing your kids? Speak for yourself.
