So, Just returned from church. Thanksgiving Sunday with the - TopicsExpress

So, Just returned from church. Thanksgiving Sunday with the usual outpourings from grateful hearts and in the midst of it all, one funny thought snuck into my mind and stayed there: Nobody wan die but dem wan go heaven. Yeah, before you-know-who became my #CrushOfLife, TuBaba was my religion. I had followed him right from the Plantation boys days and am so besotted, I would even grudge him his tendency to sow wild oats in whatever farmland is handy. So, na my love for Tuface ni? Or is it just funny that we all profess we want to go to heaven one day, but seem to think the only acceptable route is via Rapture? Mba nu. Remember, if you are a Christian, that that glorious day is supposed to come like a thief in the night. Nobody knows the day/time/hour. Is it not safe therefore to assume that everybodys one assured encounter with the inevitable is a private rapture? When your own comes, only you go waka go your way and it is near impossible to grab a hold of the when, how, where and how that would happen. Sober? Yes, but I am just trying to reconcile our fear of death with our yearning for heaven. Except we really truly do not want to go to heaven, the earlier we come to terms with the fact that death is inevitable, it must come somehow somehow, whether you like it or yes, the better. Note that I still have not reconciled myself to the why of violent death. All die na die, but why not just go off quietly in your sleep? Why all the drama that comes with plane crashes and bomb explosions and all the other sensational ways to exit the stage? I must confess, I doubt anyone needs that useless 5 minutes of fame. Anyway o, this is just a random, testimonies inspired rambling. The truth of the matter be say, except you are a modern day Elijah, there is only one route to heaven (or its counterpart which nobody wants to go to but where almost 75% of us are most definitely headed :P) so, when next you thank God for rescuing you from that near death situation, remember that you have just escaped from retreating to your heavenly mansion where you will not suffer all this suffer head wey all man dey see for this hell on earth we dey so. You have just narrowly missed the chance to flenjor on your cloudy mattress while Angel Gabriel plays the harps for you and Angel Michael feeds you succulent grapes nestling on a wafer platter. You have just missed the chance to stroll down the streets of gold in your bare feet, drinking from the eternal fountain of youth, wacking as much fruit from the tree of good and evil as you wish to, singing praises non stop in the Universes Doro Mega Biggest Praise Fest! It is either that, or you know where you are headed! Dan, dan the gran intoh da place of weepin and mournin and garnishing of teeth! So when next you testify of a near death experience, just take a moment to ponder and ask yourself what difference it means to you, that chance to be alive one moment longer. Ensure that you utilise every moment wisely, no one is promised tomorrow and promise yourself to use every opportunity offered by a narrow escape to make as much impact as you can, while you can. Why you and not the next person - the chance to inhale another lung full of air? Why the next person and not you - the screeching halt to all plans, dreams and worldly aspirations? And seriously, we need to stop being scared of the topic death or see it as a jinx, at the end of the day, that is one certain assignment everyone must fulfill and reflections on the end and what happens thereafter help to shape our present interactions and attitudes towards life. Ecclesiastes 7: 2 - It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will take it to heart. Selah... Let us pray... #RandomRambling #SoberReflections #LifeIsWhatYouMakeOfIt #NobodyWanDieButDemWanGoHeaven
