I am not sure if this has been shared anywhere, yet. I thought it would be important for parents to know that their children are to be tested soon during the field testing of the Smarter Balanced Assessment (Common Core). The following students will be affected during this ungraded, time consuming, stress inducing, waste of district resources and valuable learning time assessment. Very soon: Willow Drive Elementary- 3rd Grade Students Furman Middle School- 8th Grade Students Alice Drive Middle School- 7th Grade Students Chestnut Oaks Middle School- 7th Grade Students Crestwood High School- 11th Grade Students Lakewood High School- 9th Grade Students If you do not know what Common Core is or how it is dismantling our public education, I highly suggest Kris Nielsens book Children of the Core. There are multiple references online as well. Kris has a blog at atthechalkface/author/klnielsen74/ as well as other authors discussing education reform and the effects it is having on education in America. These can be found at atthechalkface. If you have questions or concerns, ask around. Your childrens teachers are a WEALTH of knowledge and are willing to help!
