I am now reading through Nehemiah. Boy, am I learning about prayer here!... The verse below touched me. The king asked Nehemiah what he wanted and before Nehemiah responded he prayed. It was a quick prayer...but he looked to God before he made a request...then Nehemiah found favor in the kings sight. Sometimes we respond without even going to God. Seek first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Nehemiah shows us here that prayer isnt only something long...it can be a very quick prayer...Im sure Nehemiah didnt get down on his knees and start praying before the king..He just stood there and in his head he said something like, God what should I say? I encourage you today to seek God before you make decisions and before you respond...Im going to make a more conscious effort as well. #teamJesus Nehemiah 2:4-5 NIV The king said to me, “What is it you want?” Then I prayed to the God of heaven, and I answered the king, “If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”
