I am only putting this up here because i am no longer member of UDEBSO and thus cant post or comment things. I would first love to point out that Rookies as a concept/Idea was never exclusively of UDEBSO or of UDEBSO members even in their personal capacity. The concept was specifically By myself and Andrew Naunyango In our personal capacities. It was also during a conversation between myself and Andrew decided that it should be first Hosted by UDEBSO because of their capacity to do so. My point is that, The rookies Championship cannot be seen as a UDEBSO tourney that should be led by Udebso members, but rather just a UDEBSO hosted competition,,, perhaps just like you have SANUDC hosted by certain institutions but does not mean it intrinsically belongs to them and for them to run. With that said, there is nothing illegitimate with asking someone external to CA this event ( concerns would have been legitimate if it was unam open or something). Moreover, from the type of relationship we have crafted for each other as two small societies in a rather small circuit, it has always been common practice to allow members from each others unions to CA our own competitions for example Albert Titus was CA for the PDS pepfar competition which was intrinsically PDS both by concept and realization of the concept. This has always been for the sole purpose of diversity and experience to run the competion so we protect the credibility of that competition. With that said, Perhaps the right question that needed to be addressed was whether or not Ivan Limbo is the most qualified Individual to be CA, from what Union he is shouldnt be an issue. I just dont and cant buy the notion that Ivan is not a well qualified active debater to CA a tournament. Firstly, of all people that are possible CAs that is Gordon The-Dime Joseph, Cynthy, Vlad, Katjie, Maria..etc, Ivan has the most experience of being CA and running a tournament. i mean he has been almost every CAP in the country including schools like Regionals and even Namcol nationals. since i started debating in 2012, including Co CA of pepfar debate championship.,which is by far the largest in Namibia. The Only CAP i have seen Gordon on is the UDEBSO trials one and Obviously all the Other invitations that he never got to attend, so they dont matter. Just because one does well as an adjudicator does not automatically mean they know how to set motions, Run a Tab etc. i bet you most of the alternative dont even know how a tab looks like much less know how to operate it. If development of good CAPs is what you are concerned about then make people coCAs or Shadow CAs but don not descredit our members qualifications and credibility because of a political goal as such. we as pds member and exec take great offense in that. Secondly, if at all it was very important for this person to be part of UDEBSO and populous opinion is that Cliff Has made a mistake in appointing Ivan as CA, then proper consultation with both Cliff and Ivan Should Have been made withe two before bashing out on a social network. I mean it is so Hypocritical and double standard to always preach that people should follow right chanels and forums before going on public forums, and turn around to violate when you see fit. i am positive that Ivan was willing to step down if your claims were as legitimate. Finally the very Elitism mentioned in the letter is what this letter is exactly about. I remember when i complained about not having an a PDS member on the Orgcom team (which proved to be important during the AU competition) of the AU competition, but i was met with very great opposition and public humiliation by the same group of people on the issue of even following Channels and procedure. But i guess you all are a special crop of people that deserves special treatments right???? I honestly Think is heap shots and political stunts as this one that harm the relationship between our societies that we already trying to salvage.... Yes, that is why the discussion in PDS as is on whether or Not we should BOYCOTT all UDEBSO organized competitions like UNAM open and others (an Opinion i Strongly agree with After this), if our members are never gonna get a Chance to be part of those CAPs. i mean now it is so easy to draw some propaganda theory that this is also because you want to always have UDEBSO members as victors right. which does not give us an equal and fair competition. I might be reading too much into things but i dare say i have the right to do so.
