I am planning my "Film and Fiction" class which will focus on aspects of film development and story development. The class will include sophomores, juniors, seniors and will be only a semester long- discussion/work needs to be included. Please give thoughts on the works that I have included... Nothing is firmly set and, if anything, some works will have to be eliminated due to time limitations...if so, what would you eliminate. Many thanks! “Intolerance” 1916 D.W. Griffith “Faust” 1926 F.W. Murnau “Metropolis” 1927 Fritz Lang “Modern Times” 1936 Charlie Chaplin “Le Grande Illusion” 1937 Jean Renoir “Bringing up Baby” 1938 Howard Hawks “The Rules of the Game” 1939 Jean Renoir “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” 1939 Frank Capra “The Maltese Falcon” 1941 John Houston “The Third Man” 1949 Carol Reed “Sunset Blvd” 1950 (and/or) “Some Like It Hot” 1959 Billy Wilder ? “Wages of Fear” 1953 (and/or) “Diabolique” 1955 Henri-Claude Clouzet ? “Seven Samurai” 1954 A.
