I am proud of this article I received from Colorado Rockies scout Dave McQueen. Congratulations!!!! to coaches Sessions Vestal, Jeremy Cable and Greg Naquin and the East Central All-Stars for winning the Dixie Pre-Majors State Tournament for 2014. A good looking group of young players who were well coached and played their hearts out and battled hard to become Champions. I am told this is the first time in history that a host team from the Vidalia area has won this tournament. I am very proud of this team and what they have accomplished. I wish the coaching staff and THE BOYS OF SUMMER 2014 the very best of luck in the Dixie Pre-Majors WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES. To Jason Parker, Michael Streams, Rick Berry and Dixie Baseball, thank you so much for what you do for the youth of the state of Louisiana. To Greg Naquin, who not only was one of the coaches on the winning team, but was the tournament director, the PA announcer, set up our tent and provided our giant fan and gave directions to fans looking for Vidalia’s best restaurants. THANK YOU SIR for being a gracious host and all you do for those kids. Thanks to coach Johnny Lee Hoffpauir – Parks and Recreation Director for creating that beautiful facility. Thanks to Ms Kim Bowlin for providing a golf cart. Thanks to the city of VIDALIA for investing in the future of your community and our nation. THE KIDS!!! I have recommended several players from your tournament to play college baseball and continue their education. Thanks to the hard work and dedication from all of you and the many volunteer helpers, one young man will LIVE THAT DREAM. Ty Landry- Ponchatoula Majors- outfielder will enter Baton Rouge Community College next week. I am confident others will be placed in next few weeks. If we help just ONE then it is worth it all.
