I am really shocked. At this critical moment for the election in Taiwan, a few influential ultra-conservatives are trying to discredit the candidacy of Ko Wen-Je simply because his father and grandfather were once a Japanese citizen, even calling him 混蛋 (something like some one born from a mixed-up egg). They try to argue that only those who had escaped from China to Taiwan after the Communist victory have the political rights to rule Taiwan. They attempt to take advantage of further divisions of different groups of people in Taiwan for their own benefits. There is a strong fear that some extreme individuals might be induced to do some violent or illegal acts to interrupt and manipulate the election outcome.
