I am renting a pickup tomorrow for a camping trip. Visa and Mastercard do not cover pickups in their rental car coverage for some reason known only to actuaries. Normal insurance via Enterprise to cover their loss of use in the event you are in any kind of accident (i.e. Even when you are not at fault) is somewhere between $18/day and $35/day. I called my insurance and had them add the rider that covers this same set of circumstances. The cost is $12. For six months. Granted, one of the advantages of the rental car companys insurance is that it wont be a claim against your own insurance, but Ill just go ahead and not cause any accidents to alleviate that problem. I just found all this out using some Google-Fu yesterday and thought some folks could also benefit from the info.
