I am reviewing the Drone-Mods UAV GPS locator (not the international version.) I have had it for 8 days now. I have tested it in many locations and scenarios. I bought it primarily to put on my Blade 350qx, but I have already thought of several other uses for it when it is not on my Blade. These are the results of my testing in the central Alabama area. Customer Service: 5 stars. I have emailed Bob at Drone-Mods several times with questions and he has been very responsive Battery: 5+ stars. I fully charged it the first day I got it. Other than powering it on and off for testing purposes it has remained powered on all 8 days. As of this writing, I have called the locator 78 times and cycled the power 8-10 times. The battery is currently at 69%. Wow. Accuracy: 5 stars. Just like any other GPS, the better view of the sky it has, the more accurate it is. Atmospheric conditions and heavy cloud cover can also affect accuracy. That said, the tracker has typically been at least as accurate if not more accurate than my phone. If my phone has service, the tracker has never failed to respond to me calling the tracker. There have been two scenarios in which I did not get a location and that was when the tracker was inside a windowless concrete or metal building. This means walls and roof made of concrete or metal. This did not prevent the tracker from responding via text message, it just did not give an accurate location. Included in the text message is a google map link, date, time, and battery status. It will also give you an F1 or F0. If you see F1, that means the tracker recorded a good location. If it says F0, it did not get a good location. Typically in open areas, the accuracy of location was less than 20 feet. Deep in the woods and covered with leaves accuracy was 20-50 feet. I mounted it on my quadcopter, put quadcopter in its case, and put case inside my truck and got a fix within 50 feet. Mounting it under the quadcopter with all its electronics powered on does not affect accuracy of locator. Inside my house, accuracy was about 50-100 feet. In summary, I don’t know that you will find a more dependable and accurate GPS tracker. Add the fact that it already comes with a specialized SIM card, it was already set up and ready to use, and it only cost $5 per month, it was a winning solution for me.
