I am settled in here at UNM. Jen is off to the Ronald McDonald House to get a shower and freshen up...shes had a long nite. The nurses here are ALL brats, as I came walking onto the Peds unit carrying my bag, they chimed in unison Welcome to Hawaii! !! I have a plan for those wicked women...lol. Today is all about recuperation for Gabriella. Lots of fluids and rest. Her counts this morning are bottomed out, her body fought very hard yesterday and it looks like she won. Her blood test from last nite showed a significant spike, which indicates that her bone marrow responded accordingly to the threat of sickness and unleashed its defenses. Drs this morning were happy to see that spike, it means her bone marrow is responsive. Today her counts are back to a LOW level. There still will not be any chemotherapy meds given. The goal is to see the counts rise, if not....then theres a whole other set of issues. Not going to think about that right now...yuck. The bottom line is this, those counts NEED TO CLIMB!!! Cancer still sucks, but our daughter is still a bad-ass!!! Smile.
