1 day now: The death countdown by days before these animals are sold at auction and trucked off to the slaughter house. Their last full day of life before sale. The Wagner Farm Rescue Fund issues surrounding the animal victims of Wagner Farm programming are not about the 4H program per se. It has already been confirmed by an IL 4H state representative that sale to slaughter is not a required part of their organization. It is not about lack of interest in teaching children how to work hard, including doing physical labor. There are many 4H programs that children can participate in that teach important skills in working hard, including physically. This is also not about veganism / vegetarianism per se. An increasing amount of non-vegetarians are stating to Wagner Farm Rescue Fund their disapproval of Wagner Farm programming outcomes in regard to animals and how this taxpayer funded facility is being used. This includes the nature of the lessons essentially being conveyed to participating children about entitlement - especially considering the privileged area that Wagner Farm is in. The core issue in regard to Wagner Farm is about the chosen program outcomes of Wagner Farm and the Glenview Park District - outcomes that are also resulting in their rejecting of collaborative efforts with the non-profit Wagner Farm Rescue Fund. These efforts on behalf of the animals have included repeated offers of above market value payment for these animals for humane placement after the (Lake) county fair and Wagner Farm has won their prize ribbons. Wagner Farm has been asked to work with Wagner Farm Rescue Fund in regard to these animals under the simplest of terms. However, even simple terms have been rejected in their entirety. Wagner Farm is instead choosing sale to auction which results in slaughter, and management stating that they dont find bolt-gunning in the head of these animals (the method used to kill or stun the animals before death) to be inhumane. However, this bolt-gunning isnt done at Wagner Farm so that the public - including actual program participants and funding taxpayers - can actually witness Wagner Farms chosen program outcomes. This wouldnt be keeping in line with Wagner Farms obvious desire for a bucolic facade. An increasing amount of the public is noting this as well. Therefore the killing of the animals is done off-site at the actual hands of others, which makes Wagner Farms chosen programming to also be viewed by an increasing amount of the public as being disingenuous and self-serving. lcfair/livestock-auction/4576672481 ______________________________________________ The tax payer purchased and funded Wagner Farm telling the non-profit Wagner Farm Rescue Fund to just go to the slaughter auction sale and buy their 4H animals if we really want them is being equated by an increasing amount of the public as akin to municipalities who move voter polling sites miles away and then tell the public they can just buy a car to get there, get a ride, or take public transportation and/or walk to the polling site, etc., if they really want to vote. The detailed logistics involved in needing to make responsibly done advance placement and transport arrangement of animals essentially makes buying directly from the auction to be prohibitive, particularly for larger animals. This has been explained in detail to Wagner Farm repeatedly. As their continuing dismissive response is to just go to the slaughter auction - or that the animals can be taken to a meat market as a placement site as weve also been crassly told - this is also being equated by an increasing amount of the public as their calling for hoop jumping in a seeming intent to impede animal rescue and humane placement as this obviously does not support Wagner Farm goals. While voting is an actual right for much of the public, there are those who apparently find this to be undesirable and are seeking to have this right essentially revoked at least in practicality for the time being for a certain segment of the population. Whether the issue is of the impeding of voting rights for a segment of the population or the impeding by a tax payer funded facility of compassionate outcomes for animals sought by a non-profit organization, the core of either issue is increasingly becoming clear as that of obstructionism. Wagner Farm and their Glenview Clovers 4H club have these animals scheduled to be sold to auction and ultimate death on July 26. Numbered and slated to die - the 9 pigs and 14 lambs (there were 15, but one died at Wagner Farm on June 14) of the taxpayer purchased and funded Wagner Farm, Glenview, IL, and their Glenview Clovers 4H club, slated to be sold for slaughter at the Lake County (IL) Fair. 7 young cows have also now been brought in and based on prior comment by personnel in Wagner Farm management, these cows are apparently scheduled for sale to auction also. When a visitor to Wagner Farm just last August asked one of the Wagner Farm personnel at management level where all the young cows were that were just there the previous months, the answer given again included the word dumped - that they were dumped to auction along with the lambs and pigs. The word dumped has also been heard being used repeatedly by management to the public in conjunction with the Wagner Farm milking program as to what is done with the milk taken from their cows; most of the milk has been described as being dumped as Wagner Farm doesnt have pasteurization equipment. These now 23 lambs and pigs from this year (as one lamb recently died at Wagner Farm) are just some of the approximately 100+ animals (including project cows apparently) that Wagner Farm and their Glenview Clovers 4H have sold to auction for slaughter since 2010 - and not even counting prior years - all while rejecting humane outcomes and even above-market value payment for them offered by Wagner Farm Rescue Fund. Wagner Farm has acknowledged that animals such as these, who they refer to as market animals (bred to be slaughtered and eaten) are slaughtered by being bolt-gunned to the head and they do not view this as inhumane - repeated detailed documentation of slaughter houses deaths that has been publicized globally demonstrates otherwise. What about when they are just stunned and do not immediately die or are meant to immediately die - and additional attempts have to be made to kill them, including other kinds of attempts such as in the following video? Here is further proof that humane slaughter is based on utter deception and manipulation of consumer concerns over animal welfare, designed to make people feel better about eating animals so that they will continue to support violent and exploitative animal-using industries. - Free From Harm Staff Writers: See more at: freefromharm.org/animal-cruelty-investigation/rare-footage-reveals-latest-humane-slaughter-lie-co2-gassing/#sthash.dhYo0Uw7.dpuf
