I am sharing a thought.... I believe, that if every image, every comment, every testimony of how the emissions are affecting the quality of our lives, be it physical, emotional, financial, ethical...was sent to the company, the governing bodies and to environmental watchdogs, we may, as a collective, have a chance of being heard. I should let you know,I left the group on Facebook for some time, as I, an artist, mom and educator,found the images and media feed intimately painful. I wasnt trying to step away from the reality of our situation, but I strongly believe that the words you speak are the house you live in and that, as a very proud Pictou county girl, I was hurting from how I saw all of us seeing ourselves. Media can be a very effective tool, but it can also influence, positively or negatively, those who access it. That being said...We are not powerless and we can use media to talk to people. ....For that which is right and good for our community. Maybe we should set up a different forum to communicate with those in power. There are so many of us watching now. Lets try show them what we see by sending our posts and pics to them, instead of communicating internally. Im ready to send more mail, email, and images to a different group of people. I worry that if we dont do this, the media will (as it already may have) paint us with a hopeless brush. I wish for so much more for our community...for clean water and air, for prosperity and hope, for a safe home for our children. I know you ALL wish for the same. Lets tell people this. Maybe. Just sharing a thought.
