I am signing off on this social media platform for a bit. Why? A number of thoughts have crossed my mind. 1) I was visited by three groups of people here at the farm over the past three days. They drove from Johannesburg and Tzaneen to have dinner and lunch and dinner with me. Great! 2) They told me how much they respect and value me. Role model they said. Ok... 3) That sent a chain of thinking in my mind. Do I really measure up to their expectations? My answer was a definite NO! 4) Then the penny droped. Wow! YOU HAVE TO MEASSURE UP!! So many young people look up to you. Measure up to their expectations and to what YOU know its right. 5) One group drove from Johannesburg today for lunch and it became dinner. After a long and enjoyable debate/discussion about politics, economics, land reform, weed and young peoples expectations over a lekker dinner, they drove back to JHB. On arrival, they SMSed to say they were safely home. 6) The Deputy Presidents testimony at the Marikana Enquiry was also debated and discussed and so was the Nkandla question. And the performance of our MPs in parliament. HEAVY. 7) I have spent the time, since they left me here, THINKING. And THINKING... Do I and all our leaders MEASURE up to their expectations. Their role models. Tough question. Is this revolution going to end up in tears? Pallo Jordan, etc? Are our heroes and heroines to be emperors and queens without clothes? 8) Now therefore, I have decided to do what religious people call: go on meditation, MEDITATION. Do I MEASSURE up to these honest peoples expectation. THUS, I am taking time off on Social Media and will surely be back with the answer. Do we measure up to our peoples expectations from their heroes and heroines? We are not the Pope or the High Priest. But do we measure up to their expectations. Do we steal, plunder, loot or govern with intergrity? Moral issues are for the bishops and high priests but honest governance is within our grasp. 9) So long my friends. I will return. Time for MEDITATION. REGARDS baTito 12 August 2014 Khokhotiva Country Estate Makgoebaskloof TZAN
