“I am so happy. I was crawling around on the ground like a baby - TopicsExpress

“I am so happy. I was crawling around on the ground like a baby looking for my children, but now I will be running to the market to sell vegetables and buy things because of your healing. God bless you.” These are the words Queen spoke to me after our team had cared for her for five weeks. I was introduced to Queen during my first week in Zambia. As we approached her, she was in a grass hut preparing a meal for her children. She had one of her children, a newborn, tied to her back, and was clearly hesitant to put even the smallest amount of weight on her wrapped right foot. Her eyes had very little light in them and she had to force a smile as we shook hands. It was translated to her that we wanted to inspect her foot. She took a seat in the dirt and carefully unwrapped the soiled piece of torn cloth from her foot to reveal a deep, necrotic wound about four inches in length. We were told that the wound had first appeared as a pimple and had progressed over three months to an open sore. Judging by the severity of the wound we determined that her foot and life, if not treated, could be at risk. A few members of our team returned the next day with limited supplies to wash, debride, and properly dress her wound. We continued to treat her wound throughout my five week stay and her rapid transformation amazed me every time we saw her. We were told later that Queens mother died because the same type of wound (on the same foot) had infected her blood. Can you imagine the fear and sadness that she was feeling? I got word and a beautiful picture today that Queens foot has completely healed. In two short months, her world has been flipped upside down. I wish I was there to run with her and to see her radiant smile light up the world. I wish I was there to hug her and go to town to help her sell vegetables. God is absolutely amazing. He was there through it all. He was there in our first meeting with Queen. He was working in the hands of our team as we provided wound care. He was there when we invited Queen to church (she is still coming to church, by the way). And now he will be there with her every single day. I want to post a couple of pictures- before and after. I want you to study Queens face in both of them. Study her eyes and her body language. The before picture was taken on the first day of wound care and the after picture was taken the day before I left Zambia. What a transformation!
