I am so tired of waiting for Mark Block to finally rally the good - TopicsExpress

I am so tired of waiting for Mark Block to finally rally the good people of Fluxlist, Fluxfests, ongoing-Fluxus-anything to come to our senses and follow him into some great new vibrant Art, to build a shining new Art (which can and will be approved by the established art world/1%). Mark has not organized one successful email discussion group, one successful group blog or Facebook page, or one successful festival or congregation. Instead he continues to inhabit others forums but never seems to get anyone to follow him anywhere else. Most damning of all he has NO WORK OF HIS OWN to show us that shows us the way to this wonderful new home/place/brand. When Mark was a resident at the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice his big art project from that time was to produce a set of t-shirts of historical Venetian Art figures which he illustrated with very tradtiional drawings he produced himself. This is not where I want to go in terms of new vistas of art and creativity. How can you follow someone if there is no where to go? Despite repeated efforts, Mark Bluch has been spectacularly unsuccessful at creating this new art world and recruiting anyone from the established forums to join him, so I would like to suggest another approach. Why doesnt he go off. build this kingdom, and THEN invite us all back when hes got its forums, festivals, and communities thriving. It might be better to start with less delusional people than those of us who occupy the Fluxus forums. And well still be here and ready to go when this kingdom is ready. I cant wait! The continued hypocrisy of Mark Bleek using Fluxus and Fluxus forums (on and offline) to promote himself while undermining these forums and defending an old spent group of Fluxus artists on the basis of their historical authority and authenticity is so contrary to the anti-establishment, anti-authoritarian, lets-shake-up-all-the-old-categories-and-thinking about art, that Im always amazed to see it offered up. Allison Knowles shaking her head or Larry Miller tsk tsking doesnt deter me one bit from continuing to explore and play where they stopped. In my humble opinion and in my reading of the Fluxus Spirit, one should always CHOOSE THE OPEN PATH and NOT THE CLOSED PATH in ALL matters of Fluxus. Traditional thinking, historical thinking, traditional thinking, established art world thinking is closed. Fluxus is OPEN not CLOSED.
