I am soooo upset with ESPN this morning. They were doing a story on LeBron James. Now, I understand he came up from the projects and he grew up in Akron, but the way they showed it, the network made it look like all of Akron is rundown, all of it poverty-laden, which in many ways is like showing Harlem and the South Bronx and saying this is what the entire New York City scene is like. I spent 5 years in the Ohio area between Akron and Cleveland. I loved the area and while it did not offer all the entertainment access one finds in the Apple, much of Akron is a beautiful suburb type of environment, not much different than the finer sections of the outer stretches of New York---the better sections of Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, the Bronx and the suburban communities in New Jersey, Long Island or Westchester/Putnam/Orange Counties. LeBron makes me proud that despite how he handled his last contract, he never forgot he came from Akron, but, please, ESPN, be fair.
