I am still uncertain as to what all that noise was about the boycott of British Airways. (Sorry to take you all the way back). Is it to do with staff attitude? I tell you, they treat their passenger a thousand times better than the crew of Arik. As far as pricing and direct flights go, though it is true that the same ticket ( say 21st August from Abuja to Heathrow ‘popular side’ of course) at 298k is more expensive than that of Accra to Heathrow, the difference (less than 200USD) is not as frightening as we were made to believe! Besides, our own airline, Arik, which should provide a much cheaper alternative, is just about 10k lower at 287k and they will still take you on a much unwanted trip to Lagos. The rival oyinbo airline, Virgin, is 297k from Lagos. Of course these prices do not take into consideration any bargains that you or your agent may be able to squeeze out. In the end, my point really is that despite these prices and despite all the ‘boycott the boycottables’ wahala, the BA flight from Abuja to Heathrow on the 21st of August (almost 2 months away) has only 4 seats left! We all know that the trend has been like that for years! Haba! Nijaaaa! Ibo ni e ti nri owo yi gan sef? E s’aanu awa naa o! God dey. Abuja-Lagos-Cairo (or Tripoli sef)-Heathrow. Hmmmm, sounds good.
