I am still very worried and concerned about the militirization of the electoral process in Nigeria which is very dangerous to our fragile democracy. Though some are of d view dat d deployment of heavy armed military personnel is for security reasons, but we need to understand and differentiate btw providing security in an election and milititirizing d electoral process. We have seen a repeat and advancement of what happened in Ekiti in d just concluded gubernatorial election in Osun where we saw d security agents intimidating helpless voters and indiscriminate arrest of members of the opposition. What is more worrisome is d presence of some un identified mask gun men which d spoke person of d DSS shamelessly revealed dat are members of d DSS on special intelligence. Are intelligence officers suppose to mask themselves or disguise as ordinary people? I think is rational for d intelligence officers to disguise as ordinary people in order to gather intelligence. By the way, how can we differentiate these DSS personnel with political thugs and militants or terrorists? Is this done anywhere in d civilised world? I wonder how our authority assumed dat all Nigerians are brainless.
