I am sure there are many Christians out there that celebrate Halloween and think nothing of it. I used to be one of them. I didnt know many things about Halloween and just thought of it as innocent fun for children. Boy was I wrong. Here are some facts about Halloween that you may not already know. 1. Halloween is traced back to the Druids. They were Pagan priests that worshipped the God of the Underworld on Halloween. On this day they would create a huge bonfire and sacrifice animals, harvest and humans. Yes, humans were sacrificed. The word bonfire is derived from bones and fire. Do not put any other gods in place of me. - Exodus 20:3 Do not commit murder. - Exodus 20:13 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, - Deuteronomy 18:10-12 2. The Celts would dress up in costumes to trick the evil spirits that were believed were coming back after death. Pumpkins were hollowed out and carved with evil faces for the same reason. 3. The author of the Satanic bible refers to Halloween as one of their important holidays. Anything that the devil delights in, should have nothing to do with children or children. We can not take something that is rooted from evil and try to make it holy, Christian or innocent. Many today will argue that modern Halloween is not the same as the Halloween from long ago. But the bible says: When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Deuteronomy 18:9. Evil is still associated with Halloween. Decorations are witches, ghosts, haunted houses, devils, skulls and many other scary images. During the time around Halloween, our the TV stations programming are filled with horror movies and haunted places. Where is the innocence in that? Many Christians believe that making the day a harvest day or calling it Holyween makes it ok, but the Lord does not want imitation. So Halloween should come and go just as every other day, with no celebration of any kind. If it wasnt rooted with God, than we shouldnt try to make it that way. Evil is evil no matter how you try to dress it up. If you have a birthday on Halloween and wish to celebrate your birthday or your childs birthday, than make sure to do it without including anything Halloween related. That may be hard, but its possible! I pray that now that you know the truth behind Halloween, you will make the decision to keep your children from something rooted in and derived from evil.
