I am taking palliative care courses to update my knowledge, - TopicsExpress

I am taking palliative care courses to update my knowledge, resources being American. One programme calls for relaxation exercises. I attempted them, didnt find the visuals particularly relaxing. I am not well versed in Indian palliative care, and the little that I have seen of it, I am not very impressed. I guess swadeshi is not always best. Setting flippancy aside, Indian doctors have to change their mindsets. One need not be charitable in ones profession, but to make money from the dying is reprehensible. I am given to understand that down south the palliative care is more human. I wish we could bring that into Bengal. Theres so much to do here. And for those who dont know what palliative care is, these are medicines and other interventions to keep a patient comfortable when a cure is not realistic, though attenuation of symptoms can be applied to any patient. Palliative care has become synonymous with the terminally ill. Dignity in life, dignity while dying, and dignity in death is what some of us believe in, we are in a minority.
