I am tired of seeing BS posts about the Native American - TopicsExpress

I am tired of seeing BS posts about the Native American genocide. People, learn history and read the definition of genocide. Yes, anywhere from 1 million to 100 million natives of both North and South America died because of exposure to diseases brought over from European settlers and explorers. And yes, thousands died and the Trail of Tears, thousands, not millions, and no the BS story about the US Army giving pox infected blankets to western tribes is a story by one man that was told over and over again and was disproved. Even if it were true though, its a drop in the bucket compared to how many natives died from exposure to diseases they had little to no immunity for. The vast majority of natives died from the unintentional consequences of having lived isolated from the rest of the worlds populations for a long time. That is not genocide. Get it right and stop insulting the memories of the people who did die from genocide. Yes the natives living throughout both north and south America have had it rough, really rough. Thanksgiving is not related at all! Seriously stop embarrassing yourselves by making really outrageous claims without even bothering to look this shit up. Thanksgiving is about celebrating the harvest, we just happen to have our own North American version called Thanksgiving. To legitimize it as a holiday we looked back to the early settlers at Plymouth and say, yes they celebrated Thanksgiving. The reality is it came from an older traditions brought over by the Puritans. They practiced what they called Days of Fasting and Days of Thanksgiving and it lasted a lot longer than it does now. Way down the road from then it turned into the holiday we think of now a days. Wise up please. You insult yourself and countless people around the world who have suffered greatly by not looking into the dribble you are espousing. Sorry if this sounds vehement but this is a time to be grateful for the bounty of life and it sickens me when I see people belittling that and using lies weather from ignorance or not to do so. The natives suffered enough, dont you think, at least we can be factual about how they did. Oh and I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, I am grateful for your friendship and love. Love, Peace and Happiness, Always, All Ways, Boysenberry Payne
